Jose U. Scher, MD, is assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center. He serves as director of the Arthritis Clinic at NYU-Hospital for Joint Diseases, the Psoriatic Arthritis Center at NYU Langone Medical Center, and the Microbiome Center for Rheumatology and Autoimmunity at NYU School of Medicine. As the director of the Psoriatic Arthritis Center, Dr. Scher oversees patient care, education, and translational research initiatives in psoriatic arthritis. His main area of research is related to the role of the human microbiome in autoimmune and rheumatic disease, specifically in psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Joseph F. Merola, MD, MMSc, is an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. He is also director of the Clinical Unit for Research Innovation and Trials (CUReIT), co-director of the Center for Skin and Related Musculoskeletal Diseases, and associate program director for the combined internal medicine-dermatology residency training program. In addition, Dr. Merola is on the medical board of the National Psoriasis Foundation. His clinical and research interests are focused on psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Dr. Merola received an MD from the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and a MMSc from Harvard Medical School. He completed dermatology training and was chief resident at the NYU School of Medicine, and he trained in internal medicine and rheumatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Merola is board-certified in internal medicine, dermatology, and rheumatology.

Andrea L. Neimann, MD, MSCE, is director of the Dermatology Clinical Studies Unit and assistant professor of dermatology at New York University School of Medicine. She received her MD from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and her MSCE certification in epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed her residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. In addition to precepting dermatology residents at NYU’s psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis clinic, Dr. Neimann has co-authored dozens of articles, book chapters, abstracts, letters, and posters. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
 
 
 
 
1. Differentiate between psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and other arthritides to ensure early and accurate diagnosis of PsA
2. Appropriately incorporate the various disease modifying agents into the management of patients with PsA taking into consideration patient comorbidities
3. Utilize effective communication and collaboration techniques to foster clinical care coordination among care team members
4. Integrate shared decision-making techniques to improve patients' understanding of the risks and benefits of their treatments and to allow them to participate in healthcare decisions
